I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. Kerry & I are going to be eating leftovers for at least a week. I finished up my 3 pieces for next Friday’s Hank of Oz show at Alcove Gallery. I’ll post those once I get some good pics. Meanwhile, I have added a bunch of vinyl to the store section and a few canvas pieces. The newer stuff is at the bottom.
Lastly, I’m getting ready to start painting a custom Bamboozoo series. I’ve had 16 pieces sculpted and primed for a while. It looks like I will actually have time to start on them once Friday’s show is over. If anyone wantes to get on the list, drop me an email.

I’m finishing up three paintings for the “Hank of Oz” show at Alcove Gallery on December 5th. I thought I would show the initial drawings along with where the ideas came from. Below each piece will be an excerpt from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I choose to find inspiration from the book rather than the movie because it was a tid-bit darker. I’ll post photos of the paintings sometime next week.

He seized his axe, which he had made very sharp, and as the leader of the wolves came on the Tin Woodman swung his arm and chopped the wolf’s head from it’s body, so that it immediately died. As soon as he could raise his axe another wolf came up, and he also fell under the sharp edge of the Tin Woodman’s weapon. There were forty wolves, and forty times a wolf was killed; so that at last they all lay dead in a heap before the Woodsman.
L. Frank Baum. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

The King Crow flew at the Scarecrow, who caught it by the head and twisted its neck until it died. And then another crow flew at him and the Scarecrow twisted its neck also. There were forty crows, and forty times the Scarecrow twisted a neck, until at last all were lying dead beside him. Then he called to his companions to rise, and again the went upon their journey.
L. Frank Baum. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

The bees came and found no one but the Woodman to sting, so they flew at him and broke off all their stings against the tin, without hurting the Woodman at all. And as bees cannot live when their stings are broken that was the end of the black bees, and they lay scattered thick about the Woodman, like little heaps of fine coal.

I haven’t been doing as much art over the past month or so because I’ve had a handful of freelance design projects that have been keeping me busy. I did however manage to finish up these pieces for next Saturday’s opening at The Gallery at East Atlanta Tattoo. If you’re in Atlanta or close by, be sure to check it out from 7-11 pm as there will be over 40 local and national artists.
Slowly I am cultivating a world that will be full of stories and the canvas that I did for this show is pulled out of that place. “Journey through the forest of the dead.” This monster must disguise himself in a death mask in order to have safe passage through the forest. Click the thumbnail to see the whole canvas.

I also did 3 custom Kaniza toys from Toyqube. Each of these is a kid dressed as a monster wearing a death mask. Click the thumbnails to see more.

I finished this custom MadL up about a week ago and sent it off to San Fransisco for the Me MadL competition that opens November 7th 6:30pm at D-Structure Gallery. If you’re in that part of the country, please go take a peek at some really great custom toys and support Delicious Drips.

The past month or so I have been running a bit behind on keeping the website fresh and exciting. I’ve just been ridiculously busy….. I’m helping a friend out with some design work which is great because the extra dough is always nice. It just hasn’t left as much time for me to pick up a brush. I’ve been working on a 10″ MadL that I recently just finished, pics coming soon. Then Wednesday I did my first drawing for the El Dia Los Muertos show coming up on November 15. Click the link to see the full drawing. I’ll keep you posted as the painting and the story that goes with the painting unfolds.

I finished up this commissioned custom Benny & Redbird a while back but had to wait to post it because it was for a birthday gift. I was really glad it went over so well. Click on the thumbnail to see all of the images.

I finished up my piece for next weekend’s show and mailed it off to Toy Tokyo in New York.
“America is in a pickle”
Out of all of the candidates that I have had the chance to vote on since becoming of age, Obama is the only one that I have felt strongly about. If America is in a pickle then so is he. It is time to look to him for fresh ideas for a better tomorrow. Click the thumbnails to see the full image.

Next week in NY will be a great custom show of Obama action figures. Proceeds from the sales will benefit the Obama for America campaign. There are a lot of really top notch names and I’m proud to be a part of it. Check the flyer below and I will post picks of my custom in a couple days.

So I haven’t been around too much lately, but its only because I’ve been so busy. This past Saturday was really fun over at Mint. There was a really great turn out and it was cool to chat people up about the vinyl toy movement and such.
I also did a lot of work on my 8″ Elephant Dunny. Click on the thumbnail below to see more.

I’ll be updating the shows section really soon, because I am running a bit behind on that….perhaps tomorrow.
